We will temporarily close Morgans, on May 18, 2008 to undergo a complete renovation. We will re-open on September 2, 2008 Morgans is a columned building dating from 1926 and located three blocks from the Empire State Building and approximately 15 miles west of LaGuardia Airport. This location is also a block from Morgan Library and Fifth Avenue, seven blocks from the Grand Central Terminal, nine blocks from the United Nations, 13 blocks from Rockefeller Center, and 20 miles from John F. Kennedy International Airport. Hotel amenities include the 24-hour concierge, complimentary continental breakfast, and fourth-floor living room with free Internet access, coffee, tea, and fruit until late each evening. Under the direction of acclaimed restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow, Asia de Cuba serves an innovative menu that blends Asian and Latino cuisines in a theatrical Philippe Starck-designed space. It features a 30-foot long illuminated marble communal table that runs through the main dining area, a 15-foot tall photo lightbox featuring a running waterfall, high-backed white banquettes, and living room areas with fireplaces. Morgans Bar is beneath the hotel lobby and has exposed brick walls, a concrete floor, dozens of flickering candles, and a collection of unique furniture. The hotel also offers room service, valet laundry service, valet parking (42 per 24-hour period for standard cars), a doorman, and free passes to a health club one block away. Portable computers and fax machines are available on request. All 113 rooms feature signed Mapplethorpe photographs, maple paneling, deluxe bedding, 330-thread-count sheets, plush ultrasuede banquettes, silk throw pillows, corduroy club chairs, black-and-white tiled bathrooms, safes, designer toiletries, bathroom TVs, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, dual-line phones, high-speed Internet access, CD players, and minibars.
